Perform called inspections of methods and materials used in building construction to ensure conformance with approved construction documents and the Building Code.
Perform complaint inspections initiated by the public.
Perform periodic inspections of existing buildings to ensure that maintenance is in conformity with the Building Code.
Document all inspections per established procedures.
Perform product approvals of new construction materials as relate to established standards: document and maintain records of new construction materials.
Inform Contractors and the public regarding code requirements.
Prepare comprehensive written reports of plan reviews.
Organize and schedule construction activities for assigned projects.
Liaise with contractors and sub-contractors on all project related matters.
Liaise with Company's Chief Building Inspector and Director of the Building and Development Services on all project matters to ensure code compliance, building material quality and workmanship.
Organize and chair meetings on project related matters.
Prepare budget expenditures and make recommendations for payment release on assigned projects.
File monthly reports on related projects as required.
Perform related duties as required.
Perform property inspections for new and existing licensees to ensure code compliance.
Job Requirements:
Associates Degree or equivalent in building construction and /or architectural drafting from an approved institution.
A minimum of ten (10) years experience in the field of building construction with years of architectural drafting a plus.
Excellent with The Bahamas Building Code (2003).
Character references to endorse applicant's integrity.
